Hi, I’m Eric Walker, a product manager who spends a lot of time working with ChatGPT — for product planning, marketing ideas, and sometimes just for fun.

When I first started using ChatGPT, its replies were helpful but felt a bit too formal — almost like reading a technical manual. Accurate, well‑structured, but lacking that human touch. I wanted it to respond more like a real teammate — with tone, personality, and an easy flow that makes you forget you’re talking to AI.

Over time, I realized the trick is simple: treat ChatGPT like a member of your team and give it context exactly like you would in a project brief.

Why ChatGPT Often Sounds Robotic?

Becaude it is a Robotic-that's true.

My 5 Tips to Make ChatGPT Feel More “Human”

  1. Assign a Role
    1. I tell it directly: “You’re now a product manager” or “You’re a marketing strategist.” It immediately shifts to that mindset.
  1. Add Background and Audience
    1. Example:
“You are now a product manager. Based on 2025 software product trends, create a Christmas marketing plan for a translator device targeted at students.”
With this, ChatGPT knows what to do, who the target is, and the time frame.

  1. Control the Tone
    1. I use instructions like “Make it casual”, “Explain this like you’re chatting with a friend”, or “Add a touch of humor.”
  1. Ask for Natural Language
    1. Request contractions (“don’t” instead of “do not”), everyday expressions, and varied sentence lengths so it feels more authentic.
  1. Refine Through Follow‑Ups
    1. If the first draft feels stiff, I tell it: “Make this warmer, more visual, and more engaging.”

Example Prompt I Actually Use

“Now you are a product manager. Based on 2025 software product trends, create a Christmas marketing plan for a translator device targeted at students. Keep the tone light, fun, and creative — something students would find cool and useful.”

When I use prompts like this, the output often comes with a fresh campaign theme, catchy slogans, interactive ideas, and even channel strategies.

Making ChatGPT sound more human isn’t about hacking the AI — it’s about how you talk to it. Be clear about who it is, what it’s doing, who it’s talking to, and how it should sound.

For me, this approach has made my emails, social media posts, and even go‑to‑market plans feel warmer, livelier, and much closer to real human communication. If you haven’t tried it yet, start crafting prompts like you’re briefing an actual teammate — you’ll be surprised how “alive” ChatGPT can feel.

And who knows? One of these days, it might start asking me if I’ve had my coffee before we start working. ☕🤖 Oh, and here’s a thought — try treating it like your boyfriend and see if it listens even better. 💬😉
