The route used model
rodin-gen2
, reached Replicate’s
hyper3d/rodin
, and recorded the upstream tier as Gen-2; these are not Gen-2.5 test results. The vintage camera was the strongest result and earned Частичный; the bicycle was a recognizable but repair-heavy Частичный; the supposedly easy mug Failed because its opening was capped and its handle attachment broke. Rodin is useful for concept meshes and blockouts when cleanup is acceptable, not a dependable one-click route to finished assets.

I kept the first valid Gen-2 output for each image and inspected eight lit angles, eight wireframe angles, the exported GLB, embedded textures, and a 48-frame turntable. Current Gen-2.5 documentation is covered separately for readers evaluating today’s product, but it must not be used to relabel these older-tier outputs. A convincing front view can hide a bad rear surface, missing thin parts, or topology that is awkward to edit.

A clear source image makes the 3D task easier to interpret. If the starting concept is cluttered, branded, cropped, or visually ambiguous, you can prepare a cleaner reference image in GlobalGPT’s image workspace before taking it into Rodin. GlobalGPT supports the surrounding image-preparation workflow; Rodin remains the tool responsible for generating the 3D asset.

Try Rodin Gen-2 On GlobalGPT Now

Оглавление

What Is Hyper3D Rodin?

How This Review Evaluates Rodin

Image-to-3D Test Results

Geometry and Editability

Texture and Backside Inference

Time, Route Cost, and API Credits

Pricing and Commercial Use

How to Use Hyper3D Rodin

Limitations and User Fit

Hyper3D Rodin FAQ

Окончательный вердикт

What Is Hyper3D Rodin?

Hyper3D Rodin converts text or image references into 3D assets. The official site and API documentation checked on September 9, 2026 present Rodin Gen-2.5 as the current family. That date matters because older Rodin reviews can describe controls, defaults, or generation families that no longer match the current documentation.

Three surfaces need to remain separate when comparing claims: the public marketing site, the Gen-2.5 API documentation, and the web workspace. A parameter documented for the API is not automatically a visible option or default in the browser workspace.

Rodin Gen-2.5 API Capabilities and Scope

Documented Gen-2.5 API surface

These are API capabilities, not confirmed web-workspace defaults.

Ввод изображения

One to five images. It did not test Gen-2.5. The protocol used three unbranded reference images with increasingly difficult geometry: a ceramic mug with an open handle, a vintage camera with small controls and mixed materials, and a road bicycle with spokes, pedals, a chain, and overlapping frame tubes. Each image has a complete silhouette, a neutral background, and a fixed file hash so the input cannot change between runs.

The First-Valid-Output Rule

A result counts as valid when the job completes, produces a nonblank 3D result that can be opened, and can be matched to the correct input and attempt. A valid result remains in the review even when its geometry is warped, a small part disappears, a texture smears, or the back requires substantial cleanup. Retries are reserved for operational failures such as a broken download or a missing output, not for improving appearance.

The review then examines silhouette integrity, missing or fused parts, front-to-back texture behavior, fine detail, wireframe structure, materials and UVs when available, export success, elapsed time, and credits. These dimensions stay separate instead of being hidden inside one overall score.

The Three Reference Images

Test 1, ceramic mug: a controlled baseline for the rim, handle opening, base, wall thickness, and a blue stripe visible on only one side.

Test 2, vintage camera: a detail and material task covering a circular lens, two top dials, two strap loops, brushed metal, glass, and leather texture.

Test 3, road bicycle: a hard thin-structure task covering two wheels, spokes, frame tubes, pedals, chain, gears, and open negative space.

Image-to-3D Test Results: Anywhere Route, Gen-2 Tier

These tests used Anywhere model
rodin-gen2
, routed to Replicate’s
hyper3d/rodin
, with the upstream tier recorded as Gen-2. The camera was the only file that passed the local welded-edge watertight check: it had zero boundary edges, zero non-manifold edges, and one connected component. The mug had 16 boundary edges, 13 non-manifold edges, and four components. The bicycle had two boundary and two non-manifold edges in one component.

Those counts describe structure, not visual correctness. The camera’s cleaner edge result did not restore its softened controls or material separation, while the mug’s one-mesh packaging did not make its capped opening easy to fix. In all three files, one mesh and one material make part-specific corrections less convenient than working with separated components. The camera is the only output I would call usable with bounded cleanup; the mug needs reconstruction, and the bicycle is best treated as a blockout.

Texture Quality and Backside Inference

Single-image generation filled in every unseen surface, but none of those back views was supported by the source image. The camera’s plain rear was plausible. The mug showed the clearest projection failure: its narrow front stripe expanded into blue and black bands around the sides and rear, while the white ceramic picked up an unrelated grain pattern. The bicycle kept its dark-green frame and black tires, but texture could not compensate for missing spokes and malformed mechanical geometry.

Treat the generated back as a proposal, not recovered ground truth. If the rear surface, repeated parts, or exact material boundaries matter, supply additional consistent views where the current workflow allows them, or budget for manual correction.

Observed Time, Route Cost, and Rodin API Credits

The provider reported total processing times of 138.6 seconds for the mug, 100.3 seconds for the camera, and 116.6 seconds for the bicycle, averaging about 118.5 seconds across these three valid outputs. These are provider-side task times. The separately recorded route-to-local-download intervals were longer for the camera and bicycle because they included polling and file availability.

Each successful Anywhere route task cost $0.40, for $1.20 across the three valid outputs. This is the observed route price, not a verified Hyper3D retail price, Hyper3D credit deduction, or wallet-to-cash conversion. The first bicycle submission returned HTTP 502 without a task ID; the single permitted operational retry succeeded, and no separate charge for that failed submission was verified. Three valid assets from four submissions are too small a sample for a reliability percentage, but the failure is part of the observed workflow.

Rodin Gen-2.5 API Credits Explained

Hyper3D’s Gen-2.5 API documentation lists a base charge of 0.5 credits per generation. The documented Extreme-High tier adds 0.5 credits, and the extreme-high texture option adds 2.0 credits. Those additions are cumulative.

This formula applies to the API documentation. It does not establish what the web workspace will display or deduct for a specific job, and it cannot be converted into a trustworthy cash amount without knowing the source and purchase rate of the credits.

  .rodin-credit-estimator,
  .rodin-credit-estimator * {
    box-sizing: border-box;
  }

  .rodin-credit-estimator {
    --rce-ink: #17201d;
    --rce-muted: Prepare the Reference Image

Use one clear subject with the full silhouette inside the frame. A plain background, consistent lighting, sharp focus, and visible gaps between thin or separate parts make the intended structure easier to read. Remove logos, text, unrelated props, dramatic reflections, and cropped edges unless they are essential to the asset.

A single image cannot reveal every surface. Decide which details are known, which must be inferred, and which require an additional view. If the source itself is AI-generated, first improve the accuracy of an AI-generated reference image so object count, part placement, and the full outline are stable before beginning the 3D step.

2. Check the Current Input and Generation Options

Open the current Rodin workflow and read the options shown before submitting anything. Confirm how many images the interface accepts, which generation family is selected, what geometry and material choices are available, and whether the interface displays an estimated credit charge. Do not assume that API parameters appear with the same names or defaults in the web workspace.

3. Upload the Reference and Add Only Useful Guidance

Upload the approved source image or consistent multiview set. If the current workflow offers a prompt field, use it to clarify identity or structure rather than asking the system to contradict the image. Preserve the exact input file and settings so the result can be reproduced.

4. Generate Once, Then Inspect the Whole Object

Keep the first valid result. Rotate it through the front, sides, back, and diagonal views. Check openings, thin parts, contact points, repeated elements, and material seams. A convincing front view can still hide fused geometry or implausible unseen surfaces.

5. Export an Offered Format and Reopen It

Choose a format the current workspace actually offers, save the original download, and open it in the viewer or 3D editor used by the target workflow. Confirm that geometry is present and inspect object structure, materials, UVs, texture files, and topology where the tool exposes them. A file opening successfully is only the first check, not proof that it is ready for production.

Limitations and Who Should Use Rodin

The biggest limitation in this test was not file delivery; it was the gap between a recognizable preview and an editable asset. Simple geometry was not automatically safe: the mug failed an identity-level opening check. Thin structures were even less dependable, as the bicycle lost almost all spokes and most of its drivetrain logic. Single-image back surfaces were always inferred, and one mesh with one material increased the effort required for local part corrections.

Fit

Лучше всего подходит для

Почему

Хорошая посадка

Concept artists, rapid blockouts, background props, early visualization

Fast delivery and recognizable forms can save initial modeling time when cleanup is expected.

Conditional fit

Product concepts with clear silhouettes and bounded detail

The camera retained its identity, but materials and small parts still needed work.

Poor fit

Precision manufacturing, ready-to-rig assets, close-up mechanical models, print-ready parts

Topology, hidden surfaces, openings, and thin mechanisms require checks and may require reconstruction.

Hyper3D Rodin FAQ

What is Hyper3D Rodin?

Hyper3D Rodin is Deemos’s system for generating 3D assets from text or image references. The official site and API documentation checked on September 9, 2026 identify Rodin Gen-2.5 as the current generation family.

Is Hyper3D Rodin free?

Hyper3D’s annual pricing view showed a Free plan at $0 when checked on September 9, 2026. Paid Creator and Business plans were also listed. Check the current plan page for today’s limits and entitlements.

How many credits does a Rodin Gen-2.5 generation use?

The Gen-2.5 API documentation lists 0.5 credits for a base generation, plus 0.5 for the Extreme-High tier and 2.0 for extreme-high texture. That API formula is separate from the Anywhere route accounting observed in this review.

How long does a Rodin generation take?

The three valid tasks in this test reported provider times of 100.3 to 138.6 seconds, with an average of about 118.5 seconds. Queueing, polling, download availability, model tier, and input complexity can make the end-to-end wait longer.

Can Rodin create a 3D model from one image?

Yes. All three tests produced openable GLB files from a single image. Quality varied sharply: the camera was the strongest result, the bicycle needed thin-part reconstruction, and the mug failed a basic opening check.

Which 3D formats does the Rodin Gen-2.5 API document?

The API documentation lists GLB, USDZ, FBX, OBJ, and STL as direct geometry formats. Hyper3D’s marketing page mentions additional formats, but that does not guarantee that every format appears in every workspace or plan.

Can I use Rodin models commercially?

Hyper3D’s pricing and feature pages describe commercial-use benefits for paid plans, and its Terms say Deemos does not limit use of Rodin output subject to the Terms, applicable law, and third-party conditions. You must also have rights to the material you upload.
