Retina The macula (responsible for central vision) contains: • Ganglion cell layer (GCL) and inner plexiform layer (IPL): Often thinned in myopia due to mechanical stretching (1). • Photoreceptors: Typically preserved in moderate myopia (≥−3.00 D) but may show disruption in advanced cases (2). Choroid • Vascular layer supplying oxygen to the outer retina: • Thins progressively with myopia severity (~30–50 µm per −1.00 D) (3). • Choriocapillaris (capillary network) may show reduced flow on OCTA (4). Optic Nerve Head Myopic eyes often exhibit: • Tilted discs and peripapillary atrophy (PPA) (5). • Thinner retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL), especially temporally (6).
