If you cannot say what street this is, neither can the viewer. Name a surface and a direction so the eye has somewhere to travel.

Painterly colour works only when the geometry, the light and the scale stay photographic.
Name a street, a stair, a bridge with its direction. Painterly colour without structure collapses into a smear of brushwork at thumbnail size.
One sodium lamp, one window, one forge. Multiple magical glows are what make stylised cities look like a video game menu.
Doors, railings and figures tell the eye how tall the buildings are. Without a human reference, towers lose their size.
Wet brick, brass, soot, glass. Concrete nouns survive the stylisation; the word magical does not.
Ask for painterly colour grading and photographic detail in the same sentence, so the render keeps pores, grain and edges.
Ten frames across streets, interiors and rooftops, all keeping photographic detail under the paint.
StreetsA teenage girl with braided auburn hair and pale freckled skin sprints along a wet rooftop with a satchel, laundry lines and water tanks beside her, orange windows against blue night, motion in the coat, painterly animated-feature-film frame, hand-painted brushwork, visible strokes, stylized 2.5D shading, bold graphic rim light, saturated cinematic colour grade, one strong light source, no text, no watermark, no logo

Try This PromptFive checks before you publish a painterly city.
If you cannot say what street this is, neither can the viewer. Name a surface and a direction so the eye has somewhere to travel.
Magic effects float unless a fixture produces them. Attach every glow to a bulb, a coil or a window.
Doors the size of cars kill a frame. Put a figure or a railing in the middle ground to hold the proportions.
Painterly grading works on contrast: warm lamp against cold rain. Even colour across the frame reads as a filter.
Grain, pores and brick texture should survive. If the surface is smooth everywhere, the stylisation has eaten the photograph.
Duplicated faces in a market are the giveaway. Ask for figures out of focus or turned away.
I needed key art for a tabletop setting without hiring an illustrator. Four prompts, one palette, and the whole city looks like it came from the same art department.
The scale line saved me. Putting one figure on a rooftop made the towers read as towers instead of wallpaper, and I stopped re-rendering every frame.
I write short films and use these as look frames. Keeping the photographic detail under the paint means the DP can read the light, which is the whole point of a look frame.
You can get a painted industrial city with that kind of colour and lighting. Keep character names and studio branding out of the prompt and the caption, and describe the look instead: painterly grade, wet streets, brass and neon.
Usually no single light source and no named materials. Attach every glow to a fixture, name wet brick and brass, and put a figure in the middle ground for scale.
Yes as concept art and background plates. For a commercial release, check the model licence in the picker and keep any recognisable franchise elements out of the final asset.
Fix two sentences: the palette and the light source. Paste them into every prompt and change only the location, and the frames will read as one world.
Prompt tests run on the free allowance shown in the picker. Larger renders for print or a game build are paid, with the price per image displayed before you run one.
